China’s Realme Hits 200 Million Shipment Milestone

Realme, a prominent Chinese smartphone manufacturer, proudly announced that it has successfully dispatched over 200 million smartphones since its inception just over five years ago.

Notably, the majority of these phones were shipped to international markets, highlighting Realme’s global reach. Remarkably, China’s Realme has achieved the distinction of being the fifth fastest smartphone maker to accomplish this remarkable milestone.

It is worth mentioning that China’s Realme is a subsidiary of BBK Electronics, a renowned Chinese consumer hardware conglomerate that also holds ownership of the Oppo and Vivo brands. This significant achievement of reaching the 200 million mark was attained during the second quarter of operations.

According to market analytics firm Counterpoint Research, only Vivo, Huawei, Samsung, and Apple have been able to ship the same number of units in a shorter amount of time. Out of the 14 companies worldwide that have shipped over 200 million phones to date, these four companies have proven to be the most efficient.

Realme’s chief marketing officer, Xu Qi, expressed pride in the fact that despite the existence of over 700 smartphone brands in the world, China’s Realme has managed to secure a spot in the top 10 brands for the past five years.

Counterpoint Research reported that in 2017, the market was flooded with over 700 phone brands. However, as of September, this figure has significantly decreased to approximately 250.

This device is set to feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip from Qualcomm and Sony’s new Lytia camera sensor, making it one of the first handsets to do so.

Xiaomi has also entered the market with their own offering, the Xiaomi 14 Pro, which also runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.
